I would hesitate on trying dye anything like this for several reasons. The dye would have to be sprayed on which first would leave an uneven color pattern instead of the overall color you desire. Then, whatever comes into contact with the sofa is ging to be turning colors because the dye will leave a powdery residue when it dries. You may wind up with with some strange looking animals as well as a ruined wardrobe. I guess this should have been the first issue, but I don’t think ultrasuede can be dyed since it’s a polyester blend.
I’d suggest one of the overstock and closeout centers such as Big Lots or Fred’s to check out their slipcovers. Depending on how much you can afford to spend, there are a number of online services that also carry them. There are many colors and patterns to choose from and they are tailored to fit various types of seating these days since it’s become quite chic to slipcover even new furniture! It seems that unless you’re going to lose the husband and pets (LOL), at least you can throw these in the washer occasionally!
