How to get rid of urine smell on leather sofa?
My elderly father was visting and had a accident. I have used pinesole, bleach and just plain old srubbing and it still reaks of urine. What puzzles me is that it is not a fabric sofa, it is made of leather. Any suggestions would be great.

You need to find an enzymatic cleaner that will destroy the odor, not just mask it. Wal-Mart sells a product called Odo-Ban that might do the trick. Test if for colorfastness first though, but it’s never discolored anything I’ve ever used it on.
Use white vinegar or rub a piece of lemon on it..
Probably the easiest is a cleaning service that specializez in accident victim clean ups. They can remove the smell of a rotting corpse from a mattress, I’m sure they can get the urine smell out of a leather sofa.
wash it down with vinegar that will take the smell away.you might have to do it a couple of times but it works.
Most petstores will sell a product called Natures Miracle. It is an enzymatic cleaner that is made to clean pet accidents… but it works on human accidents as well. My son had a friend who came over and slept on our couch and had an accident… it works.
Sadly, and I say without it sounding sarcastic you need to buy a new couch! Especially if the material beneath the leather (the spongy cushion) has abosorbed it, no matter what you do it never goes. For instance you can clean a carpet a million times over and thought you have removed the smell from a pet, but I guarantee get a new pet and they will find the same spot and urinate…urine is one of the most potent of all smells to remove…
Vinegar will work for the urine smell.
I have a son who used to have accidents and I found that using vinegar is the best thing get the smell out.
You need to use a special enzyme cleaner called Em Clean which will work on the bacteria causing the smell and will not damage your leather (tested) Other odour products are not tested on leather.
Part of the problem will be that the urine has got through to the innards of the suite and these will need cleaniong also, this can be tricky on some modern sofas that do not come apart. Em Clean is safe to use on fabrics too.
Please do not scrub your leather too hard or use these household products as you will have problems with your finish on the leather.
